Cobian
Cobian is a family-owned company founded by the sister-brother team of John and Claudia Cobian. In the early 1950's, John's Godfather founded "Calzaletas," the fisherman's sandal in Mexico. These sandals became very popular and Calzaletas became Mexico's largest suppliers, selling 20 million pair per year! US surfers traveling to Mexico soon discovered the brand and brought the affordable, durable sandals back to the states.
Today, surfing is still a big part of Cobian's DNA, as is humanitarianism. Through their "Every Step Matters" campaign, Cobian partners with a variety of worthy causes, including "Friends of Bethany Hamilton Foundation," "Surfers Not Street Children," "Christian Surfers," and "Surfing the Nations." They have also donated more than 20,000 pairs of sandals to "Operation Christmas Child" and is the official sponsor for the USA Water Polo Team.
