Sun Protective Clothing
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, (skincancer.org), clothing, in general, protects you from the sun's harmful rays, but not all clothing protects you equally. It depends on the fabric's color, content, construction, and fit.
The good news is that many brands today now offer performance clothing with UPF50+ sun protection. A rating of UPF50 means that that garment will only allow 2% (1/50) of the ultraviolet rays through the fabric to your skin. Another way to look at it is a garment with a UPF50 rating prevents 98% of the suns harmful rays from reaching your skin!
